Clear Case Portable Storage

The cool, transparent case portable hard drive used by Barack Obama (see lower left of photo: Obama with his Mac). These clear futuristic external harddrives are perfect for Mac and PC. Each drive has one LED activity light.

The drives are sorted into 3 types from highest price to low:

$$$ Triple interface (Firewire 800, Firewire 400, USB) <- fastest
$$ Duo interface (Firewire 400, USB) <- good mix of price and speed
$ USB only <- cheapest drives

Each type of drive can contain one of these harddrives:

$$ 7200rpm, faster access and transfer, good for power users
$ 5400rpm, cheaper but slower, works well for non-power-users

We recommend the DUO or the Triple interface to use with a Mac. Most competitor drives have only 1 year warranty. Our drives comes with 3 year warranties!

OS X Snow Leopard ready. Drives come formatted for OS X. Formatting is required for Windows users. Firewire port on computer can be used only for drives with Firewire port. Note below for USB power.

Mac Requirements

Apple OS X 10.2.8 or later and an available FireWire 800/400 or USB 2.0/1.1 port
Apple OS X 10.0.x or later and an available FireWire 400 or USB 1.1 port

USB Bus Power Accessory

Some computer USB ports (typically older computers) might lack power for external drives. Connect 2 USB ports and power up the drive with the Dual USB “Y” cable. (Firewire bus-power works with all recent Macs with Firewire.)

Q: Aren’t these OWC drives?
A: Yes, we have a reseller arrangement with them. Warranty is covered by OWC. No difference in product or warranty, the only difference is that you can save a few dollars buying the drives here.
