Last year, we reported that a blind man’s life was changed forever by iPhone. Looks like iPad can help too. Evelyn O’Brien, who has macular degeneration for over 3 decades, and is legally blind, describes that she can now see pictures of her kids with help of her iPad:
“And boy, what an eye opener.”
Doctor B. Thomas Hutchinson, Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston:
“In years past, it just couldn’t be done because the instrumentation was expensive, it was not portable, you had to sit in a given place to be able to read.”
The story of Evelyn seems to confirm the the famous Steve Jobs iPad Keynote quote when the Apple CEO said:
“iPad is our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price.”
How about other tablets? Apple iPad and the new iPad 2 both come with high quality IPS display, which provides wide viewing angle and great colors. Most iPad knockoffs, such as the slow Motorola Xoom, don’t have display that is comparable to the iPad.
Besides, Apple iOS devices such and iPhone has integrated accessibility mode for the blind. Plus, even with all the great features, Apple is ‘just getting started’ with iPad.
