Mythbusters Bust Myths with Explosions and Apple Mac Laptops
Apple Mac users and Myth Busters special effects experts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman puts folklore, urban legends, hollywood, and internet myths to the test.
Using scientific methods, logic, and reasoning, Mythbusters experiments with conditions of popular myths to see how likely those myths can be true.
Mythbusters will be on the cover of Popular Mechanics September 2009 issue.
Their investigations find truth in some myths and dispel false unscientific beliefs in others.
From the practical: Is it better to leave a light bulb on or would it cost more to warm up the bulb? To the absurd – conspiracy theories on whether the Moon Landing is a hoax perpetrated by NASA.
They also touch on topics such as ancient death ray, lawn chair balloon flight, ninjas, pirates, quicksands, rockets, and stunt driving. Now that looks like a fun job.

Mythbusters try to replicate conditions of different myths to see whether it’s likely to happen. If a myth is unlikely to happen under normal circumstances, they would then try to attempt replicating the results. (Usually involving building something and blowing something up, but with safety in mind).
Apple laptops are found in all corners of the Mythbusters shop.
Some of their investigations are referenced in popular culture. For example, the Ming Dynasty Astronaut experiment was parodied in the movie Kung Fu Panda.
Mythbusters Household Tips
The Mythbusters show is more than scientific entertainment. Some experiment results are quite useful:
Q: Is it better to leave a light bulb on or does turning light bulbs on and off lights consume more energy from “warming up”?
Mythbusters solution: After testing for energy usage and light bulb longevity, it’s better to turn light bulbs off unless you will come back in seconds for most bulbs (or half a minute for florescent bulbs).
Q: What’s a fast way to cool beer, or other beverages for parties?
Mythbusters solution: ice + salt + water mixed together, then add warm beverage. Beverage is cooled faster than putting in the freezer section of the fridge.
You can check out short clips, out takes, extra content from the show on Discovery Channel. Mythbusters episodes can be bought from Apple iTunes Store.
