Dalai Lama, Mac User
Tenzin Gyatso, believed to be the current reincarnation of Dalai Lama, is a spiritual leader, Buddhist monk, leader of exiled Tibet government, and a Mac user.
Dalai Lama appeared in Apple’s Think Different Campaign which celebrated the people who changed the world by thinking differently.
By choosing a Mac, it appears that 14th reincarnation of Dalai Lama doesn’t like viruses, spyware, or Chinese government mandated censorship application. His choice of computer is especially perfect for those in China. The next section explains.
China Mandated Censorship Application For All Windows PCs, Not Macs
For those still using PCs with their Apple iPods or iPhones, don’t you think there are already too many crapware preinstalled with new pcs?
If you are in China, the Chinese government is requiring a censorship application called Green Dam-Youth Escort to be preinstalled with all Windows PCs. The censorship application will constantly filter the contents of what people can read and see on Windows PC based on keywords, URL, image recognition, and contextual phrase recognition.
Not only does the censorship application restricts freedom of speech by filtering anything political, it’s also a security risk.
Researchers at the University of Michigan stated on June 11 that China’s mandated censorship application has severe security vulnerabilities. That “any Web site a Green Dam user visits can take control of the PC.”
Fortunately, if you live in China, the censorship application is only required for PCs running windows. Be glad you don’t have to install it on Macs.
