It’s scorching hot in the Washington DC metro region today. A perfect day for ice cream. Definitely reminds me about something I saw awhile ago about an Obama inspired Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. Something cool and smooth would definitely be nice on a hot day.

Well good news and bad news.

Good news, Ben and Jerry’s had an Obama inspired ice cream flavor called ‘Yes, Pecan‘.

Bad news is that it’s no longer on Ben and Jerry’s web site anymore. Well turned out to be a one month special, all the way back in January 2009, with the proceeds go to the Common Cause Education Fund.

Ben and Jerry’s web site describes ‘YES PECAN!’ as: ”An Inspirational Blend! Amber Waves of Buttery Ice Cream With Roasted Non-Partisan Pecans.

Well, great job releasing it in January. I totally didn’t pay attention to it at that time because it was probably a little cold, snowing, and icing outside. Just a LITTLE. Maybe heads of B&J had brain freeze from too much ice cream, that might explain releasing such a thing in the winter time.

Well that’s not the end of the story yet. During the search for the elusive Obama ice cream, I came upon something amusing.

Baked Alaska
Looks like Ben and Jerry’s had another flavor called Baked Alaska released around the same time (in Ireland?).

‘Baked Alaska’ is a vanilla ice cream with marshmallow swirls and white chocolatey polar bears. With the tag line: “If it’s melted, it’s ruined.”

Wait a second, “Yes Pecan” vs “Baked Alaska”?

Perhaps referencing to the running mate of a presidential candidate? Brilliant!

Inconsistency
But then the flavors of the foreign version of Yes Pecan got me scratching my head for a moment.

The foreign version of Yes Pecan consists of chocolate ice cream with white and dark chocolatey chunks with pecans, walnuts and chocolatey covered almonds. Sounds tasty.

Hold on, what the fudge??? Why is that different than the US butter pecan version? They should have released THAT in the US, NOW.

Can anyone explain the discrepancy? Maybe the heads of Ben and Jerry’s could get their brain freeze checked out and release something cool in the summer time? Oh well can’t have it all.
